CLEVELAND -- David Price would like to forget everything about Aug. Lester Hayes Raiders Jersey . 27, maybe the ugliest game of his career. He erased some it from his memory. Price bounced back from an alarming start and Miguel Cabrera homered twice, hitting one of Detroits three homers off Clevelands Corey Kluber, as the Tigers rolled to a 12-1 win on Monday to slow the Indians climb in the standings. Price (13-10) gave up one run and eight hits in seven innings, more of a typical performance by the left-hander than what happened last week when he allowed nine consecutive hits to New York in one inning and eight runs over two. Price called it "probably the worst game Ive ever had in my life." But he was more like himself against the sleepy Indians, who had won six of seven to get within 3 1/2 games of first in the AL Central. "It felt a lot better than five days ago," Price said. "That left a bad taste in my mouth." Cabrera hit a two-run homer in the first inning off Kluber (13-9) and Victor Martinez and J.D. Martinez connected for consecutive shots in the third off Clevelands ace. Cabrera, who has been slowed by a sore right ankle, homered again in the eighth off rookie Bryan Price. "Hes not running real good, but Im not sure it matters when youre jogging," Indians manager Terry Francona said of Cabrera. "His bats not broken." Rookie Tyler Collins hit his first major league homer, a three-run shot in the ninth, as the Tigers pounded out a season-high 20 hits. The Indians didnt arrive home until 3:15 a.m. after their Sunday night game in Kansas City was suspended in the 10th inning because of storms. Price never let them wake up, improving to 2-2 since joining the Tigers, who acquired him on July 31 and plugged him into their stable of strong starters. Price stuck to his schedule since the debacle against the Yankees. "I try to stay on an even keel," he said. "Im huge on routines. I didnt do anything and it paid off for me." Cabrera gave the Tigers a 2-0 with his 18th homer -- and first since Aug. 2. Ian Kinsler led off with a soft liner down the right-field line that outfielder Mike Aviles missed with a poorly timed dive, playing what should have been a single into a triple. One out later, Cabrera drilled his homer over the left-field wall. "It was good to see Miggy do that," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. "Its been a while. Who knows, maybe this is a flash point for him." Cabrera has worn out Kluber during his career, batting .567 with four homers and nine RBIs. Kluber induced inning-ending double plays to end the first and second, but wasnt so fortunate in the third when Aviles couldnt help him again. Cabrera hit a sinking liner with two outs that Aviles didnt see initially and had bounce off his glove. Victor Martinez followed by a hitting on 0-2 pitch over the wall in right-centre for his 28th homer. J.D. Martinez then hit his 18th to make it 5-1. Kluber was pulled one batter later, going just 2 2-3 innings, his shortest outing this season. Hes lost three straight starts after going 6-0 over eight starts. "Theyre good hitters and you make mistakes to them they usually take advantage of it," Kluber said. BIGGY MIGGY: Cabrera has 29 career multihomer games, and his 384th homer ties him with Harold Baines on the career list. Cabrera has 20 homers at Progressive Field, the most by any opposing player in the ballparks 20-year history. MOTOWN MILESTONE: Tigers rookie Steve Moya got a hit in his first major league at-bat, singling in the ninth. Moya hit 35 home runs at Erie and was named Eastern League MVP this season. TRAINERS ROOM Tigers: RHP Anibal Sanchez, who hasnt pitched since Aug. 8 because of a strained chest muscle, has made progress but isnt ready to come back. He had a setback while throwing on Aug. 26 and the Tigers are being extra cautious. UP NEXT Injuries forced the Tigers to use nine starters in August and Tuesday left-hander Kyle Lobstein will make his second career start against Clevelands Carlos Carrasco, who has yet to lose in four starts since rejoining Clevelands rotation. Isaiah Johnson Jersey . Rockies manager Walt Weiss was unhappy, too. Weiss addressed the issue in a 15-minute meeting with his pitcher and catcher after the Rockies gave up 14 hits and lost 10-1. De La Rosa lasted only 4 1-3 innings and allowed five runs in his first opening-day start. Trayvon Mullen Youth Jersey . - Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard has signed with WME-IMG, saying the sports management powerhouse will help maximize the value of my brand. http://www.footballraidersmall.com/Youth-Marcus-Allen-Elite-Jersey/ . -- Jake Paterson made 39 saves as the Saginaw Spirit halted the Guelph Storms seven-game win streak with a 6-3 victory on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League action.CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Cincinnati Reds used a well-rounded effort to end their losing streak on Saturday. Jay Bruce homered and drove in three runs and the Reds snapped a three-game losing streak with a 6-5 win over the Phillies. Todd Frazier also homered and the Reds played strong defence, throwing out two runners at the plate to end innings and overcome homers by Marlon Byrd, Carlos Ruiz and Jimmy Rollins to send the Phillies to their seventh loss in eight games. "Talk about a complete game," first-year manager Bryan Price said. "Those two perfectly executed relay throws were a big deal. We had a lot of good things, defensively and offensively." Centre fielder Billy Hamilton, second baseman Brandon Phillips and catcher Devin Mesoraco teamed up to throw out Byrd at the plate to end the sixth inning and Ruiz to end the seventh. "Those are fun plays," Mesoraco said. "Those are always my most fun plays. You certainly dont want to give up the doubles to get into that position." Alfredo Simon (8-3) allowed seven hits and three runs with three strikeouts in six innings. Jonathon Broxton pitched a scoreless eighth inning and Aroldis Chapman pitched the ninth for his eighth save. The Reds wasted no time snapping their 17-inning scoreless streak, scoring in the first inning. Hamilton drew a leadoff walk, stole second on the first pitch to Skip Schumaker and hustled to third on Schumakers groundout to Rollins at shortstop, setting up Bruces sacrifice fly. "As a team, you need the small things," Bruce said. "Those are what lead to the bigger things." The Phillies answered with Byrds two-run homer in the second, his ninth of the season. Frazier led off the bottom of the second with his team-leading 13th homer of the season, giving him home runs in three of his past four games. Frazier sparked Cincinnatis fourth-inning go-ahead rally with a single to right field and stolen base. Zack Cozart drove him in with a sinking line drive to right-centre field that Ben Revere got a glove on with a diving try before the ball trickled away. Cozart went to third on Ramon Santiagos single and scored on Hamiltons sacrifice fly. The Phillies threatened in the fifth, getting runners to second and third with one out, prompting manager Ryne Sandberg to pinch-hit John Maybberry Jr. Lester Hayes Youth Jersey. for starting pitcher Roberto Hernandez. Hernandez (2-4), is 0-3 in seven starts since his most recent win on May 4, allowed four hits and four runs with three walks and two strikeouts in four innings. He also hit a batter. Bruce followed Brandon Phillips fifth-inning leadoff walk with his fourth homer of the season and first since April 20 against the Cubs in Chicago. The homer was his first in Cincinnati since April 3 and the 100th of his career at Great American Ball Park. "Thats one of those things I knew was coming," Bruce said. "You just have to keep on keeping on. Ive been trying to keep the same approach. It felt good to put a good swing on a pitch I should have driven." Ruiz led off the sixth with his second homer of the season, and Rollins hit a two-run shot in the seventh, his eighth homer of the season and second in two days. Byrd was thrown out on a double on Domonic Browns double to right-centre field. He collided with Mesoraco, prompting umpire crew chief Tom Hallion to ask for a review to make sure Major League Baseballs new rules governing plays at the plate werent violated. "I cant give you an educated response because I dont know what the rule is," Byrd said. "I was waiting for a lane. I was going to slide outside and get my hand in" When the replay confirmed the initial ruling, Sandberg came out of the dugout to argue, which is automatic grounds for ejection. The umpires tried to wave him back into the dugout, and Hallion ejected Sandberg when he persisted. "My argument was the catcher blocked the plate before he had the ball," Sandberg said. "Byrd almost twisted his ankle with indecision. It has gone against us three times with different scenarios. Everyone wants to know what the rule is." Notes: Reds 1B Joey Votto will begin an injury rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Sunday. Votto hasnt played since going on the disabled list on May 21, retroactive to May 16, with a quadriceps strain in his left knee, the same knee on which he had two surgeries in 2012. ... Bruces walk in the third inning was his first in 16 games since he was walked three times by Milwaukee on May 1. ... Sandbergs ejection was the first of his managerial career. ... Rollins needs six hits to pass Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt and become Philadelphias career hits leader. ' ' '
