BALTIMORE -- If one was to judge Chris Davis season solely by comparing his current numbers to last years figures, it would appear as if the Baltimore Orioles slugger is performing miserably. Cheap China Jerseys . That would be far from the truth. In spite of his embarrassing .189 batting average, Davis has been a significant contributor to the AL East leaders. Davis hit his fourth career grand slam, and the Orioles got a dominating pitching performance from Miguel Gonzalez in a 9-1 victory over the skidding Minnesota Twins on Friday night. Baltimores fourth win in five games was marred by an injury to first baseman Steve Pearce, who left with a right abdominal strain. The severity of the injury will be determined by an MRI on Saturday morning, and the Orioles can only hope for the best after losing third baseman Manny Machado for the season earlier this month. "Im just hoping its a day or two thing," Pearce said. "Im not feeling any pain or anything, just discomfort." If Pearce is sidelined for a spell, Davis will do his best to make sure theres no reduction in the teams offensive output. He has 14 hits in August, seven of them home runs, and has accounted for 24 of Baltimores major-league leading 172 home runs. Davis batted .286 with 53 homers and 138 RBIs in 2013. Hes tailed off considerably this year, but the Orioles wouldnt be where they are without him. "Hes got a chance to end up with 25-30 home runs and 80 RBIs. Who knows?" manager Buck Showalter said. "We know what he can do in bunches. Im real proud of the way hes continued to fight through it. A lot of people could have or would have given in, but he hasnt." Delmon Young also homered for the Orioles, who built an 8-0 lead in the fifth inning against rookie Trevor May (0-4). It was the fifth loss in six games for the Twins. Their lone bright spot was a home run by Trevor Plouffe, the 10,000th in franchise history. The Twins contributed 7,214 of those homers after the Washington Senators hit 2,786 from 1901-1960. "It would have been better in a victory, obviously, but for me its a cool thing," Plouffe said. "I was at the right place at the right time. The one man largely responsible for most of those, Harmon Killebrew, he was a great man. He was great to me when he was around, and I think this is more like his thing than mine." Gonzalez (7-7) allowed one run and four hits over seven innings, striking out six and walking one. With the exception of Plouffe, he permitted only one runner to get past first base. Making his fifth career start, May retired nine of the first 10 batters he faced before losing control in the fourth inning. The right-hander gave up a single and hit two batters with pitches before walking J.J. Hardy to force in a run. Davis then drove a 3-1 pitch into the right-field seats, the first homer allowed by May in his brief career. "There have been games where Ive had a rough couple of first at bats and Ive come up late and hit a home run or had a big hit," Davis said. "I think thats the way you kind of have to approach it when youre not swinging the bat the way you want to all the time." In the fifth, Young hit a two-run drive that glanced off the glove of left fielder Jordan Schafer into the glove of a fan in the front row of the seats. That ended Mays night. He finished with eight strikeouts, one more than he had in his first five big league appearances combined. STREAKS Twins: The Twins ended their run of six straight games without a home run. Orioles: Pearces career-high 11-game hitting streak ended. He grounded out in his only at-bat before leaving the game. UP NEXT Twins: Kyle Gibson (11-10) makes his 36th career start, first against the Orioles, on Saturday night. In his last outing, the right-hander yielded five runs in 4 2-3 innings against Detroit. Orioles: Chris Tillman (11-5) starts for Baltimore. The right-hander is 0-3 with a 6.06 ERA in four career starts against the Twins. Cheap NFL Jerseys China . There are some early surprises in the race for the Hart Trophy, but two of the contenders are the leagues biggest stars over the past decade. There are many more players in contention for the awards than just the three that Ive named, and a good or bad week can easily alter the landscape, but through the first 20 or so games of the NHL season, this is how the awards races look to me. Cheap NBA Jerseys China . The whole deflation of New England Patriots footballs is like a murder mystery without the violence or significance. On one side, this is a ridiculous issue. http://www.wholesalechinajerseysforcheap.com/ . Will Venable and Ryan Ludwick drove in a run each for the Padres, who have taken six of their last seven contests and clinched their third straight series win after winning the first two in this set. Clayton Richard (4-9) allowed five hits and a pair of runs over seven innings, while fanning five.CLEVELAND -- Michael Brantley homered and drove in three runs, Carlos Santana also homered and the Cleveland Indians broke a six-game losing streak with a 12-5 win over the Chicago White Sox on Friday night. Clevelands struggling offence, which scored 13 runs on an 0-6 road trip, finally broke loose. Brantley hit a leadoff homer in the fifth and added a two-run single in the sixth. Santana hit a solo homer in the second and had an RBI single in a five-run first, while Ryan Raburn and Yan Gomes each drove in two runs. Danny Salazar (1-3) was charged with five runs, three earned, in five innings and earned his first win of the season. Jose Abreu hit his major-league leading 11th homer in the fifth, but the White Sox couldnt overcome a shaky start by John Danks (2-2), who allowed eight runs in five innings. The Indians placed All-Star second baseman Jason Kipnis on the 15-day disabled list prior to the game with a pulled muscle in his side. Cleveland pitchers Corey Kluber and Cody Allen wore chicken outfits during batting practice while standing in the outfield in an attempt to help the team out of its funk. The strategy apparently worked. Santanas RBI single, Raburns two-run double and Gomes two-run single highlighted Clevelands first inning. The fast start was enough to hold off the hard-hitting White Sox, who lead the AL in runs scored but have lost three in a row. Abreu struck out against Salazar in his first two at-bats, but homered to left on a 3-2 pitch in the fifth. The rookie sensation also leads the league with 33 RBIs. Salazar worked out of a bases-loaded, no-outs jam in the fourth. The right-hander struck out six and won for the first time since Sept. NFL Jerseys For Sale. 25 of last season, also against Chicago. Kipnis absence hurt the Indians immediately as his replacement, Elliot Johnson, committed two errors. Both of the miscues came on dropped throws on potential force plays. The first came in Chicagos three-run second inning. The second helped the White Sox load the bases with nobody out in the fourth, but Salazar got out of the inning. The White Sox scored three times in the second on singles by Alejandro De Aza and Adrian Nieto and a passed ball by Gomes. Alexei Ramirez, the ALs leading hitter, was 2 for 4 and is batting .356. Dayan Viciedo, the third-leading hitter in the league, was hitless in three at-bats and is batting .337. Nieto got his first major league RBI in the second and had a career-high three hits. Chicago has lost seven straight at Progressive Field last season. The White Sox lost their final 14 games against the Indians in 2013 before taking three of four at home last month. NOTES: Kipnis is expected to miss three to five weeks. ... Adam Eaton left the game with a strained right hamstring in the fourth after hitting into the double play. ... White Sox LHP Chris Sale (left flexor strain) played catch before the game, but will not be activated off the 15-day disabled list when he becomes eligible Saturday. The two-time All-Star will play long toss Monday in Chicago. ... White Sox RHP Felipe Paulino (right rotator cuff irritation) will make a rehab start Saturday at Triple-A Charlotte. ...
