RENTON http://www.raidersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-hunter-renfrow-jersey , Wash. (AP) — When he came out of Alabama, Jarran Reed was regarded as a run-stopping defensive tackle. That was it.Anything else he provided for the Seattle Seahawks was going to be extra.“He was a real dedicated run defender coming out. We did not see him specialize in rushing the passer. He has just emerged through his focus and dedication and hard work he has become a complete player,” Seattle coach Pete Carroll said.On a defensive line where pass rush was a major question entering the season, Seattle has gotten an unexpected boost from its starting defensive tackle. Reed is second on the team with 6½ sacks entering Monday night’s game against Minnesota. But it’s more than just sacks where Reed has provided help to Seattle’s pass rush. Reed leads Seattle in quarterback hits with 17 and had six last week against San Francisco to go along with one sack.Even when he’s not taking the quarterback down, Reed is helping provide the kind of pressure quarterback pressure Seattle’s defense needs.“I think he expects to get to the quarterback more than he used to and he wanted to develop his pass rush game,” Carroll said. “He worked hard at it and I think his mentality to rush the passer is just the best it’s been.”Reed agreed with Carroll’s assessment. Reed said he decided this offseason he would focus on his pass rushing, perhaps realizing the impact he could provide to Seattle’s defense if he could get pressure from the interior. With Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril gone, Seattle lost its two top pass rushers. Frank Clark was the only returning defensive lineman with a track record of having success getting to the quarterback. It’s why the defensive line — and the pass rush specifically — was such a major question for the Seahawks entering the season.Reed’s success has alleviated some of those concerns. He had three total sacks in his career entering the season.“The major emphasis last offseason was to get better at my all-around game, to be more reliable, to be on the field more for the team,” Reed said.Reed said most of his offseason work was done in basic places. He would go to parks or football fields around Atlanta to practice his skills and would work out at a local gym.If there was a sand volleyball court available Zach Brown Jersey , he would go there to train. He chose not to go to any of the high-end training facilities for his offseason work, with the exception of spending some time back on campus at Alabama.“I don’t go to all the fancy little other things everybody goes and spends all that money on. I don’t do that,” Reed said. “I just use what the earth has. If it has some grass I can run on that. If it has sand, I can run on that. I lift at a regular gym, for real.”Reed’s challenge this week will be disrupting Minnesota’s passing game. The Vikings have the seventh-best pass offense in the league in yards per game, but use a lot of short passes to make their offense work. That may not allow the same opportunities for Reed to get to the quarterback as a week ago.“He was a great run defender and he came in here and was able to do that, but I think he’s just expanded the scope of his game and it’s obvious,” Carroll said. “He’s been a nice factor.” FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The last time James White faced the New York Jets, he set a career high for rushing yards in a game. That game also marked the start of a stretch in which the ground attack has taken on added importance for White’s New England Patriots, who bring a 10-5 record into Sunday’s game at Gillette Stadium against the Jets (4-11).“That game Shareef Miller Jersey , the offensive line did a great job blocking and we had a lot of success in the running game,” White, generally the Patriots’ third-down back and better known for his receiving skills, said Wednesday. “But we can’t expect for it to be like that coming into the second time. They’re going to come in being ready to stop the run,”In the Nov. 25 game at MetLife Stadium, a 27-13 Patriots victory, White carried nine times for 73 of the team’s 215 rushing yards, including a 24-yard run late in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Prior to that, the fifth-year veteran from Wisconsin had carried for 40 or more yards only three times in his career: twice earlier this season and in the Patriots’ 41-33 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl last February.White’s role in the offense expanded considerably this year, and he enters the regular-season finale with career-high totals in both rushing (90 carries for 395 yards) and receiving (712 yards on 83 receptions, both franchise records).Concurrently Devin Bush Jersey , the Patriots’ passing offense has struggled in recent weeks, including a season-low 117 yards last week in a 24-12 win over the Buffalo Bills. They compensated by rushing for a season-best 273 yards, White accounting for 41 on eight carries. The team’s rushing average, 127.1 yards per game over the season, has blossomed to 164.2 yards over the last five games.Rookie Sony Michel leads with 881 yards on 195 carries.“It’s a team effort,” White said. “Good play calling, the offensive line’s doing a great job blocking, and (fullback) James Develin, the tight ends, Gronk (Rob Gronkowski) and Dwayne (Allen) and (Jacob) Hollister has been in there. And the receivers. Being able to run the football is a team effort, and not just about the running backs. It takes everybody in order for us to have success.”The need for increased productivity on the ground has raised questions whether the Patriots http://www.steelersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-diontae-johnson-jersey , who still have a chance to gain the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs, have yet to find their true identity.“I think we have our identity,” White said. “I think we just haven’t played our best. We know what we’re capable of and we know what we need to do each week. Our coaches have us prepared, but we’ve just got to go out there and do it, and execute for four quarters.”A victory over the Jets can clinch the No. 2 seed for the Patriots and a first-round playoff bye. With help from losses by Kansas City to Oakland and the Los Angeles Chargers to Denver, the Patriots could earn home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.“We’re just focusing on this week right now and we’re not focusing on the playoffs,” White said. “We’re treating this game like a playoff game, because that’s pretty much what it is. It’s always tough when we play these guys.”
