Adam Schein has a list of suitors (although the 49ers have said they will absolutely not be pursuing AB) and percentages of how likely teams are to trade for him. He gives the Titans a 10% chance of landing the talented wide out. Schein makes some great points in terms of the Titans needing to add weapons for Marcus in a make or break year. The Titans tried to trade for Amari Cooper back during the season, and their interest in Brown shows they are still trying to make a splash at the position. If a trade for AB doesn’t manifest, then I’m calling the Giants about what it would take to get OBJ. At some point, the Titans need to get a real set of weapons for Marcus, and hopefully this is the year, because time is running out on Mariota, and you can’t truly gauge what you have in him with Taywan Taylor and Tajae Sharpe getting significant snaps. Jim Wyatt answers a TON of AB questions in his mailbag.Charlie Casserly says that the Cardinals are shopping Josh Rosen. I’d be interested in Rosen depending on the price. He’s relatively cheap and is obviously a huge upgrade on Gabbert. Not to mention if things don’t work out with Marcus you have your guy for the future. If things do work out with Marcus, you ship him off to some other team for a high pick. DJ has the Titans selecting Christian Wilkins with the 19th pick in the draft. Duke Johnson, another DJ, is on the trade block. He’d be a very interesting trade target for the Titans if they chose to move on from Dion Lewis. How the new pieces fit in and what might be left to address in Rounds 4-7."After two days and three draft picks — with a free agent signing thrown in the middle of it all — the Titans have added four players to their roster: defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons with the 19th overall pick, defensive lineman Brent Urban on a one year free agent contract, wide receiver A.J. Brown with the 51st overall pick, and guard Nate Davis with the 82nd overall pick. They’ll add a few more picks on Saturday, but let’s give a quick reset of the roster with the new additions to see where they might go with their final scheduled picks.QuarterbackOn Roster: Marcus Mariota, Ryan Tannehill, Logan WoodsideThe Titans will likely add one more arm to this group, even if it’s just a “camp arm” to give them enough quarterbacks to keep the wide receivers and tight ends busy during practice. There have been some hints that they might consider keeping three QBs on the 53 man roster this year so don’t be surprised if they grab a late round passer for the second straight year. I love Brett Rypien from Boise State among the guys left on the board with Ryan Finley from NC State being another interesting option. The Titans also worked out a bunch of UDFA type QBs during the pre-draft process so if they don’t take one with a pick, expect one to be signed shortly after the draft. Running BackOn Roster: Derrick Henry, Dion Lewis, David Fluellen, Jeremy McNichols, and Dalyn DawkinsThe top two backs are pretty much chiseled in stone here, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Titans take a running back today. Dion Lewis is approaching 30 and Derrick Henry is entering the final year of his rookie deal. Another running back would give them some flexibility moving forward.I love Justice Hill from Oklahoma State and Trayveon Williams from Texas A&M among the day three options. Kansas State’s Alex Barnes is one of my favorites as well. Wide ReceiverOn Roster: Corey Davis, Adam Humphries, A.J. Brown, Taywan Taylor, Tajae Sharpe, Cameron Batson, Darius Jennings, Devin Ross, Roger Lewis, Kalif RaymondThe Titans are in much better shape at wide receiver than they have been in a long time after the additions of Humphries and Brown. Both should contribute right away. They also push Taylor and Sharpe down to more natural spots on the depth chart for them. Taylor’s deep speed can still be used when needed without having to rely on him in the red zone or critical third downs. Sharpe is in real danger of not making the roster if he can’t beat out Taylor in camp because he doesn’t contribute on special teams and WR5 is most definitely a special teams spot first and foremost on an NFL roster. There is still some pretty appealing receiver talent on the board Jack Conklin Jersey , including a guy that many would have liked to see taken in round one: Iowa State’s Hakeem Butler. I don’t think the Titans need to double dip here, but at some point, Butler’s 6’-6” frame, 7-foot wingspan, and 4.48 speed is going to be too good a value to pass up. Outside of Butler, Missouri’s Emanuel Hall, Georgia’s Riley Ridley, NC State’s Kelvin Harmon, and Auburn’s Darius Slayton lead a stacked group of day three receivers. It will be interesting to see if the Titans are tempted to jump back in here.Tight EndOn Roster: Delanie Walker, Jonnu Smith, MyCole Pruitt, Anthony Firkser, Cole Wick, Keith TowbridgeThis is a spot the Titans haven’t really touched this offseason which shows a lot of faith in Delanie Walker’s ability to return to his 2017 form after that horrific injury in Miami last year. It’s also a vote of confidence in Jonnu Smith and the other young tight ends that flashed towards the end of last year. That being said, I’d be surprised if the Titans didn’t add something here either on day three or through a priority UDFA. Stanford’s Kaden Smith, West Virginia’s Trevon Wesco, Notre Dame’s Alize Mack, Georgia’s Isaac Nauta, and LSU’s Foster Moreau are among the best available entering the fourth round, but don’t sleep on my guy Anthony Beck from Texas. He had great size/speed testing numbers at the Longhorns pro day and was a mauler in the run game during his time on the 40 acres. A former linebacker that plays with an aggressive physical edge. He’d be a great late addition.Offensive LineOn Roster: Taylor Lewan, Rodger Saffold, Jack Conklin, Ben Jones, Dennis Kelly, Nate Davis, Kevin Pamphile, Corey Levin, Aaron Stinnie, Hroniss Grasu, Austin Pasztor, Tyler Marz, David Quessenberry, Jamil DouglasThe Titans waited a bit to address offensive line in the draft, finally snagging Nate Davis at pick 82. I don’t blame Jon Robinson for waiting given the way the board fell — Simmons and Brown were too good of values to pass up at those spots and at positions of need also — but I’m not 100% sure Davis walks in as a clear day one starter. He might Austin Johnson Jersey , and that would be great, but I’m not sure it’s a slam dunk for him over Pamphile, Levin, and Stinnie. And I still maintain that Stinnie is a dark horse candidate to push for a starting gig. The Titans probably don’t need to double dip here if they really love Davis though (and all indications are that they do). My guess is they stand pat and let this interior offensive line shake out with the guys they’ve got, but if they do return to this group Oklahoma’s Dru Samia, Ohio State’s Michael Jordan, Mississippi State’s Shaq Calhoun, Arkansas’s Hjalte Froholdt, Wisconsin’s Beau Benzschawel, and Wake Forest’s Phil Haynes are good interior options. The top tackles include South Carolina’s Dennis Daley, Elon’s Oli Udoh, and Ohio State’s Isaiah Prince. Interior Defensive LineOn Roster: Jurrell Casey, Jeffery Simmons, DaQuan Jones, Brent Urban, Austin Johnson, Matt Dickerson, Darius Kilgo, Dee LinerLike wide receiver, the Titans have double dipped here this offseason, adding Jeffery Simmons and Brent Urban. Simmons will almost certainly start the season on PUP so the Titans might still look to add one more piece here if the right guy is available.Texas’ Charles Omenihu is a guy that has really slid down the board after being rumored as a possible late first round pick and probable second round pick through much of the draft process. He’s a bit of a tweener for a 3-4 front, but I think he’d fit best inside in the Titans base defense. Iowa’s Anthony Nelson is a very similar player too. Somewhere between an edge rusher and an interior defensive lineman, these guys have tremendous length and could be chess pieces in the Titans multiple front defense. Both would be great values at this point in the draft. Texas A&M’s Daylon Mack, Washington’s Greg Gaines, and Arizona State’s Renell Wren are some other options that could interest me. They’re all true nose tackles that could give the Titans that rock in the middle that they haven’t had in years.Edge RusherOn Roster: Cameron Wake, Harold Landry, Sharif Finch, Kamalei Correa, Gimel President, LaTroy Lewis This is the spot that seems most likely to be addressed, though Jon Robinson has consistently stated throughout the offseason that he “likes the guys we’ve got there”. Every time he says that I can’t help but think about Sharif Finch. I think there are a ton of signs that the team loves Finch and I can see why. However, that doesn’t mean they won’t spend a pick there on day three. I would imagine they will and there is a good chance that’s where they go at 121 in my opinion. There are some big time talents still out there too, led by Eastern Michigan’s Maxx Crosby. He was a productive college player with monster athletic testing numbers and some good bend on tape. If he’s there at 121, he’s my guy and I really wouldn’t mind a move up to get him. Other top options include Georgia’s D’Andre Walker Derrick Henry Jersey , Alabama’s Christian Miller, Oregon’s Jalen Jelks, and Oklahoma State’s Jordan Brailford.Inside LinebackersOn Roster: Wesley Woodyard, Jayon Brown, Rashaan Evans, Daren Bates, Nigel HarrisThe Titans are great with the top end of this position with Woodyard, Brown, and Evans making one of the best trios in the NFL, but they need depth and I think this is a position that’s firmly in play for a pick on day three. The Titans met with a bunch of inside linebackers, but they showed the most interest in Minnesota’s Blake Cashman who remains on the board heading into the fourth round. He’s a guy that I wouldn’t be surprised to see at 121. Alabama’s Mack Wilson is one of the surprises at the top of draft boards as well and would be a great addition to an already good group here. Washington’s Ben Burr-Kirven is another option that the Titans showed interest in during the draft process. All these guys would be key special teams players and depth in 2019.CornerbackOn Roster: Logan Ryan, Adoree’ Jackson, Malcolm Butler, LeShaun Sims, Tye Smith, Josh Kalu, Kenneth DurdenLike inside linebacker, the Titans are set at the top at corner. Butler, Ryan, and Jackson will be the top three with Sims providing good depth behind them. However, with Butler and Ryan both getting older and Ryan and Sims heading into the final year of their contracts, the Titans could use a young corner they felt good about to give them some roster options moving forward into 2020 and beyond.James Madison’s Jimmy Moreland is a guy the Titans showed interest in throughout the process that could be a pick today. Notre Dame’s Julian Love and Penn State’s Amani Oruwayire are sticking out as the top two “fallers” on draft boards right now and should hear their names called early. Oregon’s Ugo Amadi is something of a corner/safety hybrid — similar to how many viewed Dane Cruikshank last year — and could be a fit here. I will personally be rooting for him because he went to my high school (John Overton) here in Nashville. SafetyOn Roster: Kevin seems to like Webb, keeping him around all year and he might get a shot at the roster here in camp, but the team usually keeps five safeties and they’re still short even counting Webb.Amadi, who I mentioned at corner, would be a good flexible piece and you know the Titans love versatility. However, this is another spot with some high profile guys that have dropped. Florida’s Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, Iowa’s Amani Hooker, and Alabama’s Deionte Thompson highlight that group and would be great value picks in round four. The Titans also showed some interest in the speedy Zedrick Woods from Ole Miss during the pre-draft process.SpecialistsOn Roster: Ryan Succop, Brett Kern, Beau BrinkleyNothing to see here, move along.

ESTShareTweetShareShareNew PFF mock has Buccaneers improving pass rushMark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsThe Buccaneers addressed their pass rush last offseason, but ended up with mixed results. Jason Pierre-Paul was the team’s prized addition from last spring, and he lived up to the hype. He finished the season with 12.5 sacks Mike Evans Jersey , becoming the first Tampa Bay player to put up double-digit sacks since Simeon Rice did it in 2005. Carl Nassib was a late addition to the defensive line, putting up 6.5 sacks and serving as one of the team’s most pleasant surprises of the year. But on the downside, Vinny Curry only put up 2.5 sacks. With his lack of production and struggles from Noah Spence, Will Gholston and nearly every other defensive end on the roster, the Bucs still need help. That’s why the post-Super Bowl mock draft from Pro Football Focus senior analyst Mike Zenner looks promising for Tampa Bay. At No. 5, Zenner has the Bucs selecting Clemson EDGE Clelin Ferrell. Ferrell was a threat to enter the draft after the 2017 season, but he decided to stay for another season with the Tigers. The decision paid off, as he was a key part of a defense that led the way to a national title. In 2018, he racked up 11.5 sacks to bring his total to 27 in three years as a starter. That kind of production would be welcomed by a Tampa Bay defense that badly needs to create more pressure off the edge. Here’s what Zenner had to say in his blurb about the pick:That analysis is more than fair. The Bucs have a major need for defensive help heading into 2019. As James Yarcho outlined here Deone Bucannon Jersey , defense is still the key to success when it comes to winning in the NFL. That has certainly been the case for Tampa Bay, especially in the years since its last playoff appearance. Since 2008, the Bucs have been in the top half of the NFL in scoring defense just three times. Here’s where they’ve ranked since that 2007 playoff appearance, accompanied by their final records:2008: 10th (9-7)2009: 27th (3-13)2010: 9th (10-6)2011: 32nd (4-12)2012: 23rd (7-9)2013: 21st (4-12)2014: 25th (2-14)2015: 26th (6-10)2016: 15th (9-7)2017: T-22nd (5-11)2018: 31st (5-11)Is it a coincidence that they’ve had winning records all three times they’ve had a defense in the top half of the league since the start of 2008? Probably not. It’s obvious that Tampa Bay needs to improve its defense. The back end of the unit could use the most help, but Ferrell being selected at No. 5 would definitely be a step in the right direction as well. It’s still very early in draft season, so a lot could change. We’ll see where things go from here.
First impressions go a long way. Players on both squads had to make do through windy http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-trent-taylor-jersey , drizzly conditions, immediately putting them on the spot for what is the biggest stage in many of their young careers. Some rose to the challenge, other left more to be desired throughout the week. SouthDefensive lineLet’s start from the ground up. Off the edge, Montez Sweat (Mississippi State) was a terror in 1-on-1 drills. Sporting a lanky 6-foot-6, 250 pound frame with 35 and 5/8 inch arms, Sweat looks like a stretched-out cartoon character, but plays like a controlled beast. Sweat showed a number of times in drills the ability to set up offensive linemen to expose their chest, then fire forward to blow them off the ball. His combination of raw power mixed with just the right amount of craftiness lead to a great first day for Sweat. Though not quite as impressive as the monstrous Sweat, is fellow edge rusher Jaylon Ferguson (Louisiana Tech). Ferguson is a thicker, less explosive rusher, but showed a number of times throughout the day that he could keep offensive tackles off balance with his hand placement and strength.Carl Granderson (Wyoming) may also be of note, but not necessarily for the 49ers. Granderson put up a few great reps in run drills, which complements his tackle for loss numbers in college, but looked a smidge stiff as a pass rusher. He did not look to thrive in getting around the edge comfortably. If teams want a Michael Johnson type, they could keep an eye on him. The standout interior lineman on the day was Daylon Mack (Texas A&M). A former high school and college freshman standout, Mack never finished his college career the way many hoped. Regardless, Mack made a knockout first impression in Mobile, blowing just about every lineman he faced off the ball with ease. His low center of gravity and natural power proved to be too much for many OL to handle. LinebackerMoving to linebacker, maybe the clearest picture of a player painted during Day One was of Terrill Hanks (New Mexico State). Linebacker drills are largely useless in Mobile, and may be the toughest guys to evaluate during the practices, but their 1-on-1 coverage drills can be useful. Hanks showed the duality of a cover linebacker. On one rep, Hanks got dusted by a running back on an out route, but followed it up on his next rep by crushing his opponent trying to run a drag route. Thankfully Hanks made up some ground from his out-route-fiasco with great work in the team run drills. David Long Jr (West Virginia), to nobody’s surprise, appeared to be the most fluid guy in space. His ability to pass off zones and collapse to ball carrier’s in the quick game was impressive, but also the exact type of play to be expected of a small linebacker such as himself. CornerbackThe South cornerbacks as a whole had issues sticking to their opponents. With a slew of talented wide receivers on the South roster, a Day One practice can favor the wide receivers, so the hope is that the group bounces back Day Two and provides more competition. If anyone, the primary standout would be Isaiah Johnson (Houston). Johnson is the Legion of Boom style cornerback that Robert Saleh could be looking for opposite Richard Sherman. More so than his peers, Johnson was able to stick to opposing receivers and remain in position to work for the ball when it came time. SafetyAt safety, the Kentucky duo of Mike Edwards and Darius West made it clear they should be zone corners. Now, plenty of teams can make that work just fine, but neither Edwards or West looked great in mirroring in 1-on-1s or breaking with the tight ends. They appeared more capable as players who could play from their heels and approach what is laid out in front of them. Juan Thornhill (Virginia) had a disappointing day given his draft stock. Thornhill is viewed by many as a versatile, safety-cornerback hybrid, but Thornhill too looked slow in keeping up with opposing tight ends. It may have been the conditions, but Thornhill just did not have the best time in matching his opposition athletically. Hopefully he can recover in Day Two because he is a clearly capable player on film. NorthDefensive lineThe North’s defensive line roster is 鈥?peculiar. The interior defensive line group is no less mixed than in previous years, but there is hardly any true edge talent for the North to display. Zach Allen (Boston College), for example, is a quality prospect who showed out in his first day in Mobile, but weighed in at 280 pounds. In essence, Allen is Solomon Thomas size, which is not what the 49ers are looking for. Guys like LJ Collier (TCU), Anthony Nelson (Iowa), and Charles Omenihu (Texas) fall into a similar category. However, a few interior defensive linemen were of interest, if the 49ers so choose to bolster that position. Renell Wren (Arizona State) was a wrecking ball in 1-on-1 reps. Wren blasted a number of different offensive linemen off the ball, primarily from the nose position, and created absolute terror from the middle of the defense. It is not a flashy job, but having a standout nose can go a long way in the NFL. On the other hand, Byron Cowart (Maryland) reminded of a familiar, ever-repeating draft story: supreme athlete who does not really know what to do with his athleticism. Cowart is not a Robert Nkemdiche-level prospect, but he suffers from the same mishaps and inconsistency. LinebackerGermaine Pratt (North Carolina State) was more or less the player he was assumed to be. In coverage, Pratt showed plenty of range and movement skills to keep up with all kinds of skill players. He showed the ability to collapse on check down options as well as follow guys in space. And lucky for Pratt, the 11-on-11 drills do not really incentivize offensive linemen to crush linebackers, so Pratt may scoot by without that being much of a problem for him this week. Just behind Pratt, Te’von Coney (Notre Dame) had a solid day through drills and 11-on-11s save for a passing drill in which he completely left a defender free in the flats. Still, he overall had a good showing. CornerbackMaybe the most frustrating player on the day was Amani Oruwariye (Penn State). Among all cornerbacks on the day, Oruwariye was the best in keeping pace with opposing receivers and sticking right to their hip pockets, not giving them an inch. However, Oruwariye could not find the ball at all, be it on curl routes or down the field. It was a conflicting day for the heralded cornerback, but at least you would rather he constantly be in position so many times than blatantly being cooked. The other standout cornerback was Kris Boyd (Texas), not for being outstanding, but playing true to his identity so perfectly. Boyd excelled in press and had no restraint in trying to scrap with players throughout routes. Conversely, Boyd showed a tendency to open his hips a tad early and get beat with some crafty early route running. It is on him to show some more versatility moving forward. SafetyArguably the most disappointing performance of the day was Nasir Adderley (Deleware). A wildly versatile player in college, Adderley struggled to play in short zones and in man-to-man during practice. Adderely simply did not seem ready for the challenge of quicker, bigger, stronger players than he may have been used to. Granted, this does not take away from Adderley’s excellent range as a one-high safety, but it does partly dispel the notion of him being an all-around versatile safety. Darnell Savage (Maryland), on the other hand, was the only player out there who could deal with wide receiver Andy Isabella in any capacity. Isabella gave almost everyone the work with his shifty route running, but Savage showed patience against Isabella and was able to contest catch points against him. Most other defensive backs out there were lucky to be within five yards by the time the ball got to Isabella. The game that almost got away A few choice quotes came out of the San Francisco 49ers 30-27 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 2. Those from Richard Sherman resonated with me more than the others. “A win’s a win, but it feels like a loss to me,” Sherman said. He went on to add, “I think it’s a good lesson for a young team that we needed. It’s a humbling lesson. Thank goodness we got the win out of it, but there’s a lot of good tape http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-garrett-celek-jersey , a lot of good learning from this.” Thank goodness we got the win. There’s several reasons why. The first being the obvious momentum we need this season. It’s been a weird start to this season. After we lost to Minnesota, the overall sentiment was positive, it was a loss that felt like a win. However this week after we won, it felt like a loss, as Sherman said above. Second, there’s a stat that’s thrown around ever year after week two that indicates teams who start 0-2 have about a 12 percent chance of making the playoffs. We did not want to be under the statistical eight ball this early in the year. What I saw on Sunday was a team in flux. Jimmy Garoppolo went from gunslinger in Week 1, to a timid quarterback in Week 2. He held the ball for an extensive amount of time, and despite great offensive line play, the Detroit Lions still managed six sacks. Kyle Shanahan, to me, seemed all over the place with his play calling this week as well. At times, he mailed it in, simply calling a play just to call it. I saw him reacting to offensive failures versus challenging the Lions defense which was often reeling during the contest. At other times, he pushed the envelope with over the top formations and calls, when all we really needed was a solid play the team could execute effectively. In the clips below, I’m hoping to emulate film study on Monday with the team. I intend to point out some misses both from the quarterback position and from a coordinator perspective that could be worked on this week. It’s easy for us to look at these clips and say Kyle should’ve called this, or Jimmy should’ve thrown that. Especially with the slow motion option on the coaches film. I want this to be more of a running story line for this year, because this year has just begun and the team we see now should be a lot better and more consistent in the future. Let’s see if any of the things I noticed are improved upon next week. In our first clip, it’s the 3rd quarter with about five minutes left. It’s a key 3rd down and 6. We have Trent Taylor running an out at the bottom of the screen. The area is cleared out by Dante Pettis running a deep route. From the top of the field we have Pierre Gar莽on and George Kittle in a bunch, which creates a natural pick. In looking at the tape, I feel like Gar莽on was open more, however the pass to Taylor still could have been completed. It was unsuccessful because of ball placement. The out route should’ve been thrown to the far outside, instead it was too far inside allowing the defender to break up the pass. When I saw this play in the game I immediately said if that was a better corner, it would’ve been a pick six. Jimmy never seemed to scan the rest of his options on this play. This play also foreshadows a bigger play that we will look at later. After this play, we were forced to punt, and Detroit drove down the field and brought the game to within three points. If we converted there, we flip field position, and with a few more successful plays, possibly get into field goal range and extend the lead. Instead we ended up in a dog fight. In our next clips we get the ball back and this is where most teams get into their four minute drill. We have the ball and the lead, we want to basically run as much clock as possible. Here’s were I want to challenge Kyle to push the envelope. First thing, we lined up in a big body bunch set with one wide receiver, an obvious run formation. Second, Alfred Morris entered the game, while he’s a great downhill runner, Matt Breida at this point had over 100 yards rushing and didn’t get enough carries in the 4th quarter, especially when it mattered down the stretch. In fact, We ran the exact same running play two times in a row, in the same formation same direction. Despite those obvious keys, we gained four yards on first down, and four yards again on second down. Those clips are below. However on third down, we bring in Matt Breida and run him on a pass route. Why? Even the announcer Thom Brennaman was heard saying why are we passing when we’ve been running the ball down their throats for most of the game. And so, on 3rd and 2 to gain, this happens. There’s so many things to analyze with the play above. We went from super basic line ‘em up and smash ‘em football to putting our best running back in the slot to run a route. I felt like Kyle overthought this third down. I’m not the offensive mind he is, I have zero accolades, but he comes across sometimes as arrogant with his play calls. Simply calling a dive, or a stretch run with our running back wouldn’t show off his expertise enough. He wants everyone to know how great he is. Just my opinion. Also remember the clip above, Jimmy threw the out route too far inside, and stared down his receiver. This play is no different, he stares down Breida and fails to throw the ball to the outside, except this time it ends up an interception that almost cost us the game. Shanahan did have this to say about the play after the game:Thankfully, for lack of a better term, we kept the ball on the penalty, and we go back to the same formation and plays as before with Alfred Morris. By now however Detroit knows for sure that we’re here to run, because of all the previous tells. It almost seemed like Kyle got gun shy as well. Out of all of his vast offensive expertise, he goes back to the same exact plays? Are there no other running plays in the playbook? It was just overall confusing to watch for me. We run the same play once to the left once to the right with limited gain. Putting us in 3rd and a long 8. I combined those plays into one clips below. Our last clip is another situation I have questions on. I could say Kyle is using the first few games to see what works what doesn’t, maybe seeing who excels in certain formations and who does not. So it’s now 3rd and a long 8, we need to convert, we also need to run some clock to prevent Matthew Stafford from dicing up our defense again to win the game. The formation is creative, but the personnel I don’t get. Kittle is by far our best receiver, and the Lions knew this, he was often doubled limiting him to two catches on the day. He did draw several penalties which kept drives going, including the pivotal defensive holding call that saved the game.In this formation though he stay in the backfield to pass block versus being a weapon on the play. In theory I can grasp the concept, as he actually occupies three defenders. The one he’s blocking, and the two defenders that would’ve covered him if he ran a route. Here’s the problem, he gets manhandled by the defensive end and pushed into the Jimmy’s lap, and then one of the defenders guarding him smartly realizes he’s blocking and blitzes. All was not lost however, as highlighted in the video, Jimmy hit his plant foot with no pressure, Pettis was open on the drag route, and would have at least had a chance to run for the line to gain, but Jimmy doesn’t throw it. Instead he gets sacked, and we are forced to punt. As Sherman was quoted above, there’s a lot of good tape from this game. There’s several teachable moments all throughout on both sides of the ball. I’m pretty sure some of the things we saw today, the team also saw on Monday and they plan to improve upon those things in Week 3. Kansas City’s defense isn’t as tough as Detroit’s so I would hope to see a similar offensive performance. In most instances if your offense puts up 30 points, you should win.I do want to see Kyle get less “cute” in the red zone (no more sprint reverses to Pettis) and instead keep feeding the running game. The Lions were lost because the play action worked to perfection with Breida tearing up the field. I want to see Jimmy continue to settle down and get comfortable in the offense. This weeks match up will be tough, but if we can slow down the Chiefs offense (easier said than done) we could pull this one out as well. Go Niners!
RENTON Kam Chancellor Jersey Green , Wash. The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity on because the team had not announced the deal.It was a busy second day of the league year for the Seahawks after being mostly quiet in the early stages of free agency.Fluker was a key influence in Seattle’s resurgence as the top running team in the NFL. The veteran dealt with leg injuries at times during the season, but appeared in 10 games for the Seahawks.Retaining Fluker and the addition of Iupati will help bolster the depth on an offensive line that finally solidified last season and led to significant improvement with Seattle’s offense. Iupati was a Pro Bowl selection in four straight seasons from 2012-15 and has played for division rivals San Francisco and Arizona. Iupati was an All-Pro selection in 2012.“They’re a winning team,” Iupati said in a statement from the team. “They’ve been competitors and contenders for the nine years I’ve been in the league. It’s close to home, and Mike Solari is also one of the biggest reasons I wanted to come here because he was my coach in (San Francisco). He’s awesome.”Wright is one of the few remaining holdovers from Seattle’s Super Bowl championship team and helps a linebackers group that could be among the best in the league if healthy and available, teaming with Bobby Wagner and Mychal Kendricks. Wright’s deal is for two seasons.Wright’s future was uncertain after an injury-filled 2018 season where he played in just five games due to a knee injury in the final year of his current contract. Before the injury troubles of last season, Wright was incredibly durable for Seattle having started 63 of the previous 64 regular season games. Wright, who will turn 30 years old this summer, was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2016 when he had 124 tackles and four sacks.Wright said at the end of last season he intended to test the free agent market to see where his value stood. But he also had indicated a desire to play his entire career in one place and continue to team with Wagner.“I want to end my career as a Seahawk, but it’s a business,” Wright said at the end of the season. “. This is my first time, I never went through (free agency) before. We’ve just got to see when that time comes.”Seattle also announced the signing of Pro Bowl kicker Jason Myers in the hope he will help solve issues in the Seahawks’ kicking game the past two seasons. As a rookie in 2017, Shaquill Griffin was all but anointed the successor to Richard Sherman as the Seattle Seahawks’ shutdown corner. Griffin, a third round pick, started 11 games as a rookie in a promising first season. Griffin’s crowning as Seattle’s next great cornerback was completed following Sherman’s release, with Griffin’s switch to Sherman’s vacated left cornerback position. However, 2018 didn’t bring about an All-Pro selection for Griffin, unlike Sherman’s sophomore season. Though Griffin’s sophomore slump was greatly exaggerated, he didn’t exactly step into Sherman’s role as an elite cornerback, either. After allowing 3.2 receptions per game as a rookie, Griffin allowed 3.4 per game in 2018. His yards per reception allowed also failed to improve, increasing from 13.1 as a rookie to 14.2 as a sophomore. Worse still was Griffin’s on-ball production, as his passes defended dropped from 16 to seven (though he did increase his interception total from one to two). The way in which Griffin’s season ended, making several high profile mistakes in the Seahawks’ loss to the Cowboys, only served to increase the criticism surrounding him. However, his performance was not nearly as bad as some would make it seem. Griffin, playing on a bad ankle—against the type of wide receiver in Amari Cooper who matches up well against Griffin at full health—allowed six catches for 52 yards on 11 targets. The touchdown he allowed was a perfect throw and catch, with Griffin providing solid coverage. Griffin was hardly perfect on Saturday night, but you would be hard pressed to find a Seattle defender who was. Hell, Bobby Wagner George Fant Jersey Green , who tackles everything, missed Dak Prescott on what was essentially the game-sealing run. There could be a number of reasons as to why Griffin failed to live up to the (lofty) expectations of him in 2018. The most obvious one would be that he took on an entirely new role, as the defense’s number one cornerback, and all the responsibilities and challenges that come with that spot. And there’s certainly some truth in that. But a bigger reason may be what comes with stepping into the number one cornerback spot in Seattle’s defense—for Griffin, it meant switching sides. Upon entering the NFL, Griffin had to learn Pete Carroll’s rare technique for cornerbacks, a tall task in itself, and one that much more experienced corners have failed to do. (See Williams, Cary.) Instead, Griffin acquitted himself well—as well as any rookie has done since Sherman. Then, in year two, Griffin had to continue to try and master this technique, while switching sides. The mechanics of the position, which he spent an entire year learning and adjusting to, were flipped completely. Geoff Schwartz, a former NFL lineman and now a writer for SB Nation, told Pro Football Focus about the difficulties of switching sides on the offensive line in 2012: Though I’ve never played cornerback, nor been a member of any type of Legion of Boom, I would imagine the same goes for defensive back. Athleticism, physicality, footwork, hand placement and mentality: All incredibly important traits for a cornerback to have, and all thrown into flux for Griffin over the course of his first two seasons. Despite all of that, he’s largely been a good cornerback, a position that in itself is difficult as a young player.Tre Flowers gives the Seahawks another ultra exciting prospect at cornerback, as Carroll ushers in a new era in the defensive backfield. However, Griffin should not be forgotten about, or written off, as he enters his third year—and really, just his second, as he continues to take on the role of Seattle’s left cornerback.

As the NHL trade season has intensified Alex Burmistrov Jersey , Artemi Panarin of the Columbus Blue Jackets has been viewed as the top prize for teams in the market for a high-scoring winger.Panarin will be a free agent July 1, and he has shown he can put the puck in the net with his lightning-quick and accurate wrist shot. Panarin has scored 24 goals and leads the Blue Jackets with 67 points in 57 games.Panarin could also help Columbus make its own postseason run this year, with the team third in the Metropolitan Division and having justacquired high-scoring forward Matt Duchene in a trade with the Ottawa Senators.Bringing in Duchene indicates the Blue Jackets believe they can make a run in the postseason, but their playoff position is tenuous, with division rivals the Pittsburgh Penguins level on points with them in the wild-card spots and the ninth-place Carolina Hurricanes just a point behind them. The Duchene move indicates the team has belief in itself, and general manager Jarmo Kekalainen would likely have to receive a blockbuster offer to move Panarin. The Senators have two potential free agents this summer in forwards Mark Stone and Ryan Dzingel. Both players are putting the puck in the net with regularity, with 28 goals for Stone and 22 for Dzingel. The Senators have already moved Duchene, and Hockey Night in Canada insider Elliotte Friedman tweetedFriday that Stone and Dzingel have been put on the market. The Senators are in last place in the Eastern Conference with 49 points and have already picked up a 2019 first-round draft choice in the Duchene trade (and a conditional first-round choice in 2020). General manager Pierre Dorion could get another first-round pick for Stone, while Dzingel is more likely to bring in a second-round draft pick.Power forward Wayne Simmonds has been the subject of speculation since the start of the NHL's trade season. While they are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games, the Flyers are still eight points out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and have lost their last two games.NHL insider Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic tweeted Thursday that the Flyers were looking at Thursday's game with the Montreal Canadiens and Saturday night's game with the Pittsburgh Penguins (outdoors at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia) before making their final decision on Simmonds. The Flyers dropped a 5-1 decision to Montreal, and while a victory over Pittsburgh would help their cause http://www.officialcanucks.com/authentic-adidas-bo-horvat-jersey , they would still be quite a distance from the final playoff spot.Even reaching that final playoff position would put them on track to play the Tampa Bay Lightning, who have been the best regular-season team by a wide margin and are unlikely to be troubled by an eighth seed.LeBrun had identified the Lightning, Boston Bruins, Winnipeg Jets and Nashville Predators as the teams interested in Simmonds in early February.Mike Hoffman of the Florida Panthers, Gustav Nyquist of the Detroit Red Wings and Mats Zuccarello of the New York Rangers have also been mentioned as possible trade candidates. Craig Custance of The Athletic had that trio in the top 10 of players most likely to be moved prior to the deadline. ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) The Minnesota Wild skated to the NHL trade deadline in an enviable position, on track for the playoffs with their lineup almost intact again.Though the top two teams in the daunting Central Division bolstered their rosters on the last day for dealing of the season, the Wild weren’t worried. They’ve won four straight games to surge into fourth place in the Western Conference.”I like what we have and the way we’re playing,” coach Bruce Boudreau said on Monday, about two hours before the trade deadline. ”Obviously to get into the playoffs and to go anywhere, we have to play better.”That’s essentially what they’ve done Youth Brandon Sutter Jersey , though, after stumbling through their first 20 games. They’re 26-12-4 since Nov. 9, and 10 of their next 11 games are against teams currently below the cut for the postseason.”We’re showing that we’re sticking to the game plan,” center Matt Cullen said. ”Early in the year, we may have changed things up a little bit if things weren’t going our way and find ourselves in trouble and dig a hole, but I think it’s been pretty good here lately.”Nashville acquired left wing Ryan Hartman from Chicago and re-signed center Mike Fisher for the stretch run. Winnipeg landed center Paul Stastny in a surprising swap with suddenly skidding St. Louis. The only move the Wild made on Monday was to trade defenseman Mike Reilly to Montreal for a fifth-round draft pick.”I don’t let it bother me,” Boudreau said. ”I’ve always believed if we do the right things, then usually good things happen. I’ve been on both sides.”They’re expecting defenseman Jonas Brodin back from a broken left hand this week, and their forward depth has been sound enough that they let right wing Chris Stewart go in a waiver claim by Calgary. That gives the Wild some more space under the salary cap for future maneuvering.”We pretty well knew he was going to get picked up,” Boudreau said. ”He’s too good a person, too good a teammate for nothing to happen to him.”The Wild Brendan Leipsic Jersey Kids , who host the Blues on Tuesday, have displayed an invaluable ability to rally lately. They turned a 2-0 deficit in the final minute of the second period against San Jose on Sunday into a 3-2 overtime victory . They trailed 2-0 at New Jersey on Thursday and charged back to win 4-2.”Lately, we’re getting that feeling that we’re never out of it,” goalie Devan Dubnyk said. ”That’s an important one to have.”Even more critical than this late-season resilience has been the productivity of these victories. Sometimes teams can get hot and still go nowhere in the standings, but the Wild have timed their streak well against slumps by some of their closest Western Conference competitors.”It’s a good sign for us, but it’s still going to be tight,” left wing Zach Parise said. ”We all know there’s not a lot of points separating the teams, so we’ve got to keep improving and worry about ourselves. You don’t want to find yourselves in a spot where you have to scoreboard watch.”—
ST. PAUL http://www.officialredwings.com/authentic-adidas-dylan-larkin-jersey , Minn. (AP) — A pair of guys who played high school hockey in Minnesota helped the New York Islanders pick up an important two points on the road Sunday night. They also did no favors for the home team.Brock Nelson scored 1:04 into overtime and the Islanders beat the Wild 3-2 to move into a tie atop the Metropolitan Division.“It’s a great moment for him and hopefully he gets a few minutes to share it with them after this and then we’ve gotta head home,” said Devon Toews, who assisted on a goal by Anders Lee.Nelson played for Warroad near the Canadian border; Lee is from the Minneapolis suburb of Edina.Lee scored for the fourth straight game and Jordan Eberle added a goal for New York, which has won five of seven. Thomas Greiss made 32 saves. The Islanders are tied with Washington with 91 points with 10 games remaining, but currently hold the tiebreaker with a greater scoring differential. In the extra session, Nelson converted a feed from Mathew Barzal to beat Alex Stalock with a wrister from the slot. Nelson, who added an assist, established a new career high of 47 points.Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said his club deserved better and was not happy with the Islanders line change about 25 seconds before the winning goal. With Minnesota bringing the puck out of its own end, Barzal jumped over the boards with a trailing Cal Clutterbuck coming off. After about 10 seconds in the Islanders zone, Barzal and Nelson went the other way for the game-winning goal.“It was 40 feet too many men. Who are we kidding here? Timely goals, timely kills, timely saves and just a good mix to get two points.”Minnesota thought it tied the score 5 minutes into the second when Donato jabbed at a rebound and the puck sneaked across the line. However, the Islanders successfully challenged that Greiss was interfered with during the scramble.Parise did tie it about six minutes later with a highlight-type individual effort. Ryan Suter centered the puck to the Wild forward at the edge of the blue paint. that Taylor Lewan was fined $10 Derrick Morgan Jersey White ,000 for this post-game incident with Josh Norman after the Titans beat the Redskins last Saturday. Lewan said after the game that he went over there because he felt Norman was trying to injure Derrick Henry during the game.Lewan does this stuff from time to time. I would rather this kind of stuff be taken care of during the game instead of making a scene afterwards. It just isn’t a good look for a guy to be involved in something like this- especially as often as it seems to happen with Lewan. With all of that being said, if Norman was out there trying to hurt Henry, and Henry said after the game that he didn’t think Norman was trying to hurt him for what it is worth, then there is absolutely no place for that. The good news is that guys like that typically “get theirs” when they have that type of reputation. With the afternoon games over, it’s time to reshuffle the playoff scenario deck. The AFC contenders, followed by the NFC contenders, are listed below, along with a description regarding what needs to happen in order to qualify and/or maximizing postseason positioning.Chiefs (11-4): The Chiefs have clinched a playoff berth. A win over the Raiders next weekend or a Chargers loss to the Broncos clinches the AFC West. A win over the Raiders also delivers the No. 1 seed in the AFC. A loss to the Raiders plus a Chargers win results in the Chiefs landing in the No. 5 seed.Patriots (10-5): They’ve clinched the AFC East for the 10th straight time. A win against the Jets next weekend would give New England its ninth straight first-round bye. A win over the Jets and a Chiefs loss to the Raiders would give the Patriots the No. 1 seed.Texans (10-5): The Texans have clinched a playoff berth, thanks to Pittsburgh’s loss to the Saints. The Texans now need a win against the Jaguars and a loss by the Patriots to the Jets to secure a bye. If the Chiefs and the Patriots lose next week, and the Texans win, the Texans would be the No. 1 seed. Losing next weekend would also result in losing the division crown to the winner of the Colts-Titans game. A Colts-Titans tie would deliver the AFC South to the Texans.Ravens (9-6): Thanks to that victory over the Chargers, the Ravens are in with a win next week over Cleveland or a Pittsburgh loss to the Bengals. Thanks to the Titans and Colts winning, the Ravens are out with a loss and a Pittsburgh win.Chargers (11-4): The Chargers can still win the AFC West by beating the Broncos in Denver, if the Chiefs lose at home to the Raiders. Absent that, the Chargers will be the No. 5 seed.Titans (9-6): With Pittsburgh losing Delanie Walker Jersey White , next Sunday night’s game against the Colts becomes a win-and-in scenario. The Titans could win the division by beating the Colts, if the Texans lose to the Jaguars.Colts (9-6): The Colts have the same scenario as the Titans.Steelers (8-6-1): The Steelers are screwed, thanks to their loss to the Saints. They need to beat the Bengals and root for the Browns to beat the Ravens. If the Steelers win and the Browns and Ravens tie, the Steelers would win the tiebreaker with the Ravens based on a better division record.Dolphins (7-8): Their loss to the Jaguars eliminated Miami from playoff consideration.Saints (13-2): The win over Pittsburgh gives the Saints the No. 1 seed.Rams (12-3): They’ve won the NFC West, but nothing more yet. They’ll secure a first-round bye and the No. 2 seed with a win over the 49ers or a Bears loss to the Vikings. If the Rams lose and the Bears win, the Rams will fall to the No. 3 seed.Bears (11-4): The Bears can become the No. 2 seed if they beat the Vikings, and if the Rams lose to the 49ers. Otherwise, Chicago is locked in as the No. 3 seed.Cowboys (9-6): They’ve clinched the NFC East, and they’re locked in as the No. 4 seed.Seahawks (9-6): The Seahawks have clinched a playoff berth. A win next week over Arizona makes Seattle the No. 5 seed. If they lose and the Vikings beat Chicago, the Seahawks would be the No. 6 seed.Vikings (8-6-1): The win over the Lions, combined with Philly’s win over the Texans, requires the Vikings to win next weekend to nail down a playoff berth, unless Eagles lose to Washington.Eagles (8-7): A win next weekend at Washington plus聽a Vikings loss would give the Eagles the No. 6 seed.Washington (7-8): The wins by the Vikings and Eagles have eliminated Washington.Panthers (6-9):聽The Panthers were eliminated by their loss to Atlanta.

However, an off-season already filled with a lot of significant changes, and more to come, have this team on the verge of becoming everyone’s pre-season sleeper.Everyone, that is, except for ESPN apparently. In releasing their self-proclaimed ‘way-too-early’ power rankings of NFL teams ahead of the 2019 league year, the network showed their hand and told every franchise exactly what they think of them. For the Bucs, this means being labeled as 24th out of a possible 32 franchises. But, wait a minute, isn’t that higher than they finished in 2018? Yes. Yes it is. And it’s still too low. Here’s why. It’s well documented that the Buccaneers had the most potent passing attack in the NFL between the goal lines. Getting the ball across the goal line was another matter. Bringing in new head coach and quarterback whisperer Bruce Arians will help fix that issue. This fact alone should bump the team up about five spots in the power rankings.Add to it the addition of Todd Bowles as defensive coordinator and the promise of a coaching staff who is more interested in making things work for their players rather than making their players work for them William Gholston Jersey , and this is a team who should be Top-20.It might just be me, but the teams currently ranked behind the Buccaneers are...25. Washington Redskins26. Jacksonville Jaguars27. Detroit Lions28. Cincinnati Bengals29. Buffalo Bills30. New York Jets31. Oakland Raiders32. Arizona Cardinals...and they all belong behind the Bucs. No arguments there. Not from me, anyway. However, there are some teams ranked ahead of the Bucs which I don’t feel belong there.Such as the Miami Dolphins, who not only fired their head coach but have no idea what they’re doing at the quarterback position.I don’t know if anyone has ever muttered the words that quarterback questions are the key to successful NFL teams, but if they have I’ve never heard them. Add to it a questionable hire at the head coaching position, and the franchise is definitely trending downward as far as league comparisons are concerned. The New York Giants are also ranked ahead of the Buccaneers, and again, what is happening at the quarterback position combined with an underperforming defense. Not good.I may be looking at this from a holistic stand-point while the ESPN writers who combined on this look at it from a final finish point of view. The Atlanta Falcons rank 18th on the back of credit given due to returning players from injury in 2019. Tampa Bay had plenty of those as well.We could go on and on about this, and maybe we will on the Locked on Bucs podcast sometime next week. But in the meantime, check out the rankings for yourself and let us know where you think the 2019 Tampa Bay Buccaneers should sit in this ‘way-too-early’ power rankings. The full inactive report is out. We already knew coming in that the Falcons would be without star running back Devonta Freeman. (AP) — passing yards at a record pace, San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman criticized the league for rules that he says unfairly favor offenses. The four-time Pro Bowler said defenses are at a severe disadvantage given the rules geared toward protecting quarterbacks.“This is what the league wanted though. They wanted record passing numbers,” Sherman said. “You can’t touch (the quarterback). You can’t tackle him. You can’t hit him high. You can’t hit him low. You can’t knock him down to the ground hard.“You can’t hit a receiver high. You can’t hit him low. You can’t push him, you can barely press him. It’s making it really difficult on teams to combat it because every rule in the book is designed to make sure you don’t get them stopped.”There’s no debating the video game-like numbers being posted. Through the first four weeks, the totals for points scored (3,030), touchdowns (344) and touchdown passes (228) are all the highest in NFL history. The frequency of roughing-the-passer penalties has been criticized.“The roughing (penalty) is the biggest one right now,” Sherman said. “But most of the tackling rules have changed. They’re just trying to make it impossible for guys to play defense.”The league’s goal is to reduce the injuries to the starting quarterbacks. This affected the 49ers as Jimmy Garoppolo will miss the rest of the season after tearing the ACL in his knee against Kansas City on Sept. 23. He was hurt scrambling to the sideline.“My suggestion is to put flags on the quarterbacks,” Sherman said jokingly. “If you don’t want them touched, don’t want them getting knocked down. These D-ends and D-tackles and linebackers have long arms. They’ll be able to snatch these flags off without even having to touch these guys half the time.”Sherman hopes to get back on the field. After sitting out Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers because of a strained left calf, the veteran practiced in limited fashion Thursday and wouldn’t rule himself out for Sunday’s home game against Arizona. After Sherman was injured in Week 3 against Kansas City, San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan said the expectation was that Sherman likely would miss “a couple” games. The 49ers have started Jimmie Ward in Sherman’s place, although Greg Mabin rotated in at cornerback with both Ward and Ahkello Witherspoon against the Chargers. Mabin forced a fumble and earned praise from the coaching staff. He showed “great physicality, competitive toughness Steve Young Jersey , communication skills,” defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said. “He did play very well in the game.”Saleh said Mabin would rotate in at cornerback again. If Sherman can go, that will affect things one way or another.NOTES: Left tackle Joe Staley (knee) did not practice Thursday. But two of the 49ers other starting offensive linemen battling knee injuries, center Weston Richburg and right tackle Mike McGlinchey, practiced in limited fashion. Running back Matt Breida (shoulder) and receiver Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps, hamstring) also were limited. … The starting safety tandem of Adrian Colbert (hip) and Jaquiski Tartt (shoulder) participated fully as did running back Alfred Morris (knee). The 49ers landed a running back in free agency for the second straight year when they signed Tevin Coleman this week.Coleman’s arrival has led some to wonder about what the outlook is for last year’s signing. Jerick McKinnon tore his ACL before the start of the season and has no guaranteed money left on his deal, so it’s hardly out of left field to think the team might part ways with him while moving forward with Coleman, Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert. On Thursday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that’s not the plan. He said the depth at the position is not a problem and didn’t rule out having all four running backs — Mostert is a core special teamer — active for games. McKinnon still has rehab work to do as well and Coleman’s presence allows that to continue without worries about an exact date that he’ll be ready. That outlook could change as other roster needs and/or offers from other teams pop up this offseason, but, for now, the Niners say that four is not a crowd.

Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsWell folks, in terms of entertainment value, that was one of the worst Super Bowls of all-time. But if you wanted the Los Angeles Rams to lose the Super Bowl in unbelievably inept fashion, this was a dream come true. The mighty Rams offense, led by genius head coach Sean McVay Dontae Johnson Jersey , became the first team since the 1971 Miami Dolphins to score no touchdowns in the Super Bowl. They put up a grand total of 3 points against the New England Patriots, who prevailed 13-3 courtesy of Sony Michel’s go-ahead TD with seven minutes left in the game, while Stephen Gostkowski secured victory with a 41-yard field goal after the two-minute warning.Jared Goff was really bad. He finished 19/38 for 229 yards and a back-breaking, astonishingly poor interception to Stephon Gilmore in the closing stages as the Rams sought a game-tying touchdowns. Goff was sacked four times, the Rams rushing attack only yielded 62 yards on 18 attempts, and they were a pathetic 3/13 on third-down conversions. Los Angeles scored 527 points in the regular season, but Bill Belichick’s defense put in a remarkable performance by hassling Goff Alex McGough Jersey , shutting down the running game, and locking down the Rams’ receivers. They were held to only 4.3 yards per play and just 14 first-downs.This loss assures that the Seattle Seahawks will head into 2020 as the only team in the NFC West to have won a Super Bowl since the league realigned its divisions in 2002. As for the winners, New England now has more Super Bowls (6) than both the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys, and as many as the Pittsburgh Steelers. There’s really not much more to add. The 2018 NFL Season was filled with amazing offenses and high-scoring games, but it started with an 18-12 win for the Philadelphia Eagles over the Atlanta Falcons, and ended with a 13-3 win for the Patriots over the Rams. Now the 2019 offseason begins.
SAN JOSE Womens Samuel Girard Jersey , Calif. (AP) —big game for San Jose defenseman Erik Karlsson.Evander Kane and Joonas Donskoi each scored two goals, Karlsson had three assists again and the Sharks defeated the Edmonton Oilers 7-2 on Tuesday night.Karlsson has at least one assist in 14 consecutive appearances. He has 25 points (one goal, 24 assists) during that span, and three assists in each of his last two games.“To be honest, he’s not really shocking many of us,” Sharks defenseman Brenden Dillon said. “We’re lucky enough to see him every day at the practice rink. Just a special, special player.”Marcus Sorensen, Brent Burns and Joe Thornton also scored for San Jose, which has won four straight and six of seven — totaling 36 goals during that stretch. The Sharks are 11-2-2 over their last 15 games.“This is the type of team that we know we can be, and it’s up to us to do it on a consistent basis,” Kane said.Karlsson has played in 14 of San Jose’s last 16 games. The two-time Norris Trophy winner was issued a two-game suspension for hitting Los Angeles Kings forward Austin Wagner in the head on Dec. 22.Acquired from Ottawa in an offseason trade, Karlsson is the fifth defenseman in NHL history with at least one assist in 14 consecutive appearances.“He’s just a world-class player Semyon Varlamov Jersey ,” Sharks assistant Steve Spott said after head coach Peter DeBoer missed the game because he was ill.“He’s as good on our end as he is in the offensive zone. What a lot of people don’t see is how vocal he is on the bench and in our locker room, too. You could tell why he’s been a captain in Ottawa, and he’s brought that leadership here. You can see his game going to the next level offensively and defensively.”Alex Chiasson and Milan Lucic scored for Edmonton, which has lost eight of 10 after a 5-0-1 surge.Kane has five goals in his last four games, and fortuitous bounces figured in his 15th and 16th of the season. He scored the first goal of the night at 6:37 of the first period when his shot bounced off the back of defenseman Caleb Jones’ skate and past goalie Cam Talbot. Later, a pass by Burns ricocheted off Kane’s skate and into the net, giving San Jose a 4-1 lead at 6:32 of the second.“You don’t want to rely on bounces,” Oilers defenseman Adam Larsson said. “They were all over us. They made it hard for us. We have to be a lot better in certain areas.”Sorensen scored his eighth goal on a penalty shot. Aaron Dell made 20 saves for San Jose.Mikko Koskinen gave up three goals on 19 shots after replacing Talbot midway through the second period. Talbot allowed four goals and turned back 17 shots.“There were some strange goals, maybe three or four deflections. But still, when your best players are minus, it’s tough to win,” Oilers coach Ken Hitchcock said.“That’s two games in a row they’ve owned us in front of the net, in the slot Sergei Boikov Jersey , and they knocked us out of the box. That’s a damn good team. They owned us in what I call critical ice; the areas you score in. We had our chances and they got sticks on the puck or got deflections. They played better than we did in those critical zones.”NOTES: San Jose leads the season series 2-1. The Sharks have outscored Edmonton 14-6 in the last two meetings. … Donskoi has scored seven of his 13 goals in his last six games. … Oilers C Ryan Nugent-Hopkins played his 500th career game. … With an assist on Chiasson’s goal, Connor McDavid has 14 points (five goals, nine assists) over his last eight games. … The Sharks are one win shy of 1,000 in franchise history.UP NEXTOilers: Host the Florida Panthers on Thursday.Sharks: At the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday. We knew they were going to have a push in the second period. We just had to weather the storm.”Jordan Eberle had a goal and an assist, and Josh Bailey and Cal Clutterbuck also scored for the Islanders, who had won five straight before their losing streak. Mathew Barzal and Brock Nelson each had two assists and Thomas Greiss stopped 22 shots.“Just because it’s not April doesn’t mean it’s not a must-win,” Clutterbuck said. “You don’t want to give a five-game winning streak back. I like how we battled back. But down two on the road, you can be a little tired. It was a disappointing loss.”Kuhnhackl got his second of the game at 3:26 of the third period as Eberle’s pass from the right corner deflected off Kuhnhackl’s stick, a Vancouver defenseman’s stick, and then Kuhnhackl’s skate and in to push the Islanders’ lead to 4-2. The goal stood after a video review, giving Kuhnhackl his first career multi-goal game.Clutterbuck scored a power-play goal with 2:54 left, the Islanders’ first in four games with the man-advantage. It was also Clutterbuck’s first goal since Jan. 13 against the Rangers.“It’s been a while,” he said. “The worst thing is there’s a lot of self-doubt that creeps in. Ten games, 15 games is one thing, but when it’s that long you begin to doubt your own ability. … It’s a big relief.”Trailing 3-1 after one period, the Canucks pulled within one on a power-play goal early in the second as Virtanen knocked in a rebound in front for his eighth of the season at 2:51.Leipsic got the Canucks on the scoreboard first, taking a pass from Michael Del Zotto at the bottom of the left circle and beating Greiss up high for his second of the season 2:48 into the game. The Islanders went ahead with two goals 45 seconds apart. Kuhnhackl tied it on a delayed penalty on Vancouver as he swiped a backhander from his knees while falling down below the left circle Jason Pominville Jersey Kids , and the puck managed to sneak in between Markstrom’s right pad and the post at 5:11.“I tried to spin away from the defenseman, and I thought I got tripped and they got a penalty,” Kuhnhackl said, “so I just tried to throw it on net and I was fortunate enough the puck went in.”New York went ahead when Bailey tried to send a pass across to Anders Lee at the right side of the net, but the puck deflected off the skate of Vancouver defenseman Christopher Tanev and in at 5:56. NASHVILLE http://www.officialhockeyjetsshop.com/authentic-adidas-kyle-connor-jersey , Tenn. (AP) in the Stanley Cup Final, the Nashville Predators have been hard at work preparing for the postseason. It’s just a happy byproduct that they’ve matched the NHL’s longest winning streak this season in the process.Austin Watson scored a short-handed goal late in the second period and the Predators beat the Anaheim Ducks 4-2 on Thursday night to extend their franchise-record run to 10 games. The Predators also matched Colorado for the longest winning streak in the NHL this season. The victory kept Nashville’s edge at six points ahead of Winnipeg and Vegas for the Western Conference lead.”We’re focused on the process and what we need to do to be ready come playoff time,” Predators center Ryan Johansen said. ”We’re just taking it day-by-day and looking at our team game and what we can always be improving on and these wins are obviously nice as they keep coming along.”Pekka Rinne made 31 saves to improve to 18-1-1 over his last 20 games.Johansen had a goal and an assist and also fought with Ducks center Ryan Kesler.”What did he have, a fight, a goal and an assist?” Nashville coach Peter Laviolette said. ”That’s old school.”Craig Smith and Viktor Arvidsson each scored. Filip Forsberg had two assists for Nashville, which honored David Poile before the game for becoming career wins leader among NHL general managers with his 1,320th victory last week.Rickard Rakell scored twice in the third period for the Ducks Mark Scheifele Jersey , who snapped a three-game winning streak. Rakell’s second goal at 16:35 pulled the Ducks within 3-2 before Arvidsson scored over goalie John Gibson’s glove with 1:46 left. The Predators swept the three-game season series against the Ducks, the same team they beat for the Western Conference championship last year. Center Ryan Getzlaf said the Ducks were too tentative early with the puck.”It’s finding that happy medium,” Getzlaf said. ”At times we get too revved up when we come in this building about running everybody over and all the other stuff and forgetting playing hockey.”The puck didn’t drop until after a pre-game ceremony for Poile, who got the record March 1 in Nashville’s 4-2 victory at Edmonton. That win pushed him past Glen Sather (1,319). NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman was on hand for the festivities Thursday. The Predators didn’t miss a beat after the delay as Smith scored at 5:26 of the first period with a wrister that beat Gibson glove-side. Then Forsberg found Johansen at the edge of the crease with a pass, and Johansen redirected it for his 10th goal at 15:10.The Ducks went on the power play late in the second period, and the Predators quickly turned that into a 3-0 lead. Colton Sissons skated up and took a shot Mathieu Perreault Jersey , then Watson scored off the rebound with 1:18 left for his third short-handed goal this season – tied for second in the NHL.”That was a momentum changer,” Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. ”I thought we started to impose a little more will in the second period and then we had an opportunity to make it a 1-goal game and then we give up a short-handed goal.”Ducks center Ryan Kesler and Johansen fought on the ensuing faceoff. Johansen said Kesler had been asking to fight for two periods. The Predators center fell after apparently stepping on a stick.”Was that what that was?” Johansen said. ”I hope so, because I went down pretty easy. We’ll go 1-0 Kesler.”Anaheim opened the third taking the first few shots. And then it was over pretty quick by the end of the second.”After Karlsson and Smith gave the Golden Knights a 2-0 lead after one period, Nosek picked up his eighth goal of the season when he broke free alone for a short-handed snipe that chased Brossoit in favor of Hellebuyck.Smith scored his second of the game and 17th of the season when he took a pass from Karlsson and lasered a wrist shot past Hellebuyck to make it 4-0. Three of the survivors were unable to attend the awards show.Haugan was remembered for telling his players ”it’s a great day to be a Bronco” before each game. when Ryan Donato played his first professional game.Three days after his junior season at Harvard ended Carolina Hurricanes Hats Authentic , Donato joined the Boston Bruins‘ lineup in the middle of a playoff chase in a top-six role with a spot on the power play.No pressure, kid.”I definitely had to learn quickly,” Donato said. ”Every game is important, so it had to click right away. I really didn’t have a choice.”Such is the task for Donato and a handful of other young prospects joining contenders in the eleventh hour of the NHL season. It has become common for teams with no postseason hopes to sign players out of school and play them late in the regular season like Vancouver did with Brock Boeser and Arizona with Clayton Keller a year ago. This season, some top teams are taking the chance, too.Just as the Bruins added Donato, Minnesota signed Jordan Greenway after his season at Boston University, Anaheim signed Troy Terry after the University of Denver was out of the NCAA Tournament and Nashville brought over Eeli Tolvanen from Europe after a full year in the Kontinental Hockey League – young talent added for the playoffs without the teams giving up anything, though coaches must now integrate a new player late in the season.”It’s tough if the kids aren’t good,” Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said. ”With our team right now in the midst of this race, every little defensive situation has got to be done right.”Every shift is magnified this time of year, adding to the burden of trying to learn a team’s system. Donato, Greenway and Terry went right from college to the NHL, and Tolvanen had to adjust on the fly from the wider Custom Carolina Hurricanes Jerseys , European ice as Nashville tries to shore up home ice throughout the playoffs.”It’s kind of tough to come in the middle of the season and just jump in and you don’t know all the guys,” Tolvanen said. ”You have to do it at some point, so I think it’s a pretty good spot that I came a couple games before the playoffs.”Tolvanen benefited from two rounds of KHL playoffs with Jokerit and carried that intensity across the pond, while Terry and Greenway got a taste of playoff action in the NCAA Tournament. Donato’s season playing for his dad and former NHL forward Ted ended, and he suddenly had to ramp things up to carry a big load for Boston amid injuries to Rick Nash and others.Donato knew he couldn’t take a shift or a game off and has stepped up with seven points in his first nine games. Coach Bruce Cassidy wasn’t worried about getting the soon-to-be 22-year-old up to speed as much as seeing if Donato could handle the size, speed and pace of the NHL.”Most of these kids that come in are offensive-minded guys, so are they going to be able to make their plays and handle a man’s game?” Cassidy said. ”And he’s shown he’s able to do that.”Donato certainly had a body of work coming in, including leading the United States and tying for the tournament lead with five goals at the Olympics without NHL players. The other three young, late-season additions – all of whom also stood out at the Olympics – are being eased in.”We didn’t really do anything at the trade deadline because we knew that we were going to get Jordan Greenway,” Boudreau said. ”He’s gone through the Olympics and the world juniors all in the last year, so he knows what a little bit of pressure is all about. Playing at BU, he’s always (on) one of the better teams playing in important games. We pretty well thought he could handle all this.”Nashville is betting Tolvanen can handle it, too. The impressive Finnish winger set a KHL record with 36 points as an 18-year-old and looked increasingly more comfortable in his first three games for the Predators, who have their sights set on a return trip to the Stanley Cup Final.”It’s important for him to see ice time before the playoffs www.officialblackhawksproshop.com ,” coach Peter Laviolette said. ”The playoffs are a long haul. I think we learned that last year that you need a lot of people and a lot of parts and it’s important to get him involved in the game, with the team, in the systems.”Predators general manager David Poile recalled making one trade too many at a previous deadline and messing with his team’s chemistry.”You have to be careful on both sides because you don’t want to put a young player in a position to fail,” Poile said. ”You want to put him in a position to succeed. You also are very respectful of the players that have been with you all season long. It’s also OK to have depth but you don’t want to move everybody’s cheese too much.”In Boston, it helps that Donato is filling a spot vacated by injuries and showing immediately he belongs. In Nashville, Tolvanen’s reputation preceded him for anyone who saw what he did as one of the leading scorers at the Olympics.”It’s a special situation when somebody comes in this late and joins the team and under different circumstances, but it’s been great,” starting goaltender and fellow Finn Pekka Rinne said. ”Certainly it adds a new, special element to our team. I think it’s going to be beneficial down the road.”— GLENDALE, Ariz.
